“An abstract is the most important part that one writes in a scientific paper, and it is perhaps the most difficult part. An abstract is read by many times

 more people than the article itself. Its appearance in scientific digests, conference proceeedings, and journalsguarantees that a good abstract will be 

read many times.We will discuss several suggestions for writing a good abstract for a scientific paper, and we will examine quite a few examples from the 

chemical literature. We will use these examples to help us build a model for a good abstract. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of abstracts for 

discussion as well”
